cog1cog3 NWCPC was ranked 2nd in the statutory bodies category at the just concluded ICPSK Champions Of Governance Awards. (COG). The award for excellence in governance was inaugurated in 2010 by ICPSK. 2017 awards was the eighth edition. According to ICPSK, “the award aims at recognizing institutions and individuals that exhibit the highest standards of practice of good governance”

NWCPC through it Board upholds high standards of good governance and entrenches principles and values of public service and best practices in Corporate Governance. The General Manager, Corporate and Legal Services, CS Wabuyabo lists the four cornerstones of corporate governance as: an effective board, independent external auditors, competent executive management and a sound internal audit function.

On his part, the Ag. Managing Director Dr. (Eng.) Ali Hassan said he was proud of the Corporation’s achievement. “This award is a motivation for us to do more. We aim to uphold high standards of professional ethics and ensure timely and effective service delivery”. Dr. Hassan added that the Corporation was reviewing most of the existing policies to be in line with the new mandate as the Corporation transits to the Water Storage Authority.

Board Chairman Hon. Dr. Julius Kones said that the board ensures that the Corporation’s values are put into practice and are effective. “As a board we ensure we conform to the guidelines stipulated by the Mwongozo Code and we uphold public participation in policy making processes.” He thanked management and staff for their effort and urged them to aim higher in the next edition of awards.
