INVITATION TO ATTEND THE KENYA NATIONAL DAM CONFERENCE

VENUE: FLAMINGO BEACH RESORT & SPA - HOTEL MOMBASA

THE CONFERENCE EVENT IS POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE - WE REGRET FOR THE INCONVENIENCES

The National Water Conservation and Pipeline Corporation (NWCPC) whis is in transition to National Water Harvesting and Storage Authority (WSA) intends to hold the 1st National Dam Conference in Kenya. The Conference that was scheduled to be held on 14th to 16th of November 2017 at the Flamingo Beach Resort and Spa in Mombasa has been postponed till further notice. We apologize for the inconviniences caused.

The Conference received tremendous support from the Dam professionals. Various organizations such as members of Kenya Commission on Large Dams (KenCold), Kenya Chapter who are the Country representatives of the International Commission on Large Dams (ICOLD), Ministry of Water and Irrigation — State Department for Water Services, Institute of Engineers of Kenya (IEK), Association of Consulting Engineers of Kenya (ACEK) and representatives of training institutions represented by Kenya Water Institute (KEWI) have pledged to support the conference. This led to the expansion of the Dam Conference National Steering Committee to include the above members for their technical input.

In the Country, NWCPC has implemented the largest number of dams as a single institution through the support of the Kenya Government among them, six (6) large dams and more than fifteen (15) others are under various stages of design. There are still more than sixty (60) sites that have been identified as good dam construction sites.
Proper planning, design and construction will ensure water safety and integrity in dam construction technology. The Conference will be an annual event. It will promote the concepts, technology and knowledge sharing, dam instrumentation, application and consideration of various materials for design and construction of new dams, as well as for promoting, monitoring, operation, maintenance and rehabilitation of existing dams. The Conference will further promote opportunity for dam professionals and organizations to share their knowledge and experience as well as technologies application, innovation sharing, dam design, construction and safety initiatives.

You are therefore requested to attend the Conference For more information, kindly call the KNDC Chairman Mr. Julius Mugun on the Mobile No. 0718 436 133 Or Send your queries to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

About the Conference
There are about six (6) large dams for water storage constructed by the National Water Construction and Pipeline Corporation (NWCPC) since the year 2006. More than 75 others are under various stages of design. Proper planning, design and construction will ensure safety and integrity of these dams. The NWCPC is the leading institution to take the initiative to organize the Kenya National Dam Conference (KNDC) as yearly event. This conference will promote the concepts, techniques, instruments, and materials for design and construction of new dams, as well as for monitoring, operation, maintenance and rehabilitation of existing dams. It provides an opportunity for dam professionals and organizations to share their knowledge and experience as well as their technologies, innovations, in dam design, construction and safety initiatives.

This conference received a great amount of interest from dam professionals, as evidenced by the members of Kenya Commission on Large Dams (KenCold) joining the expanded Dam Conference National Steering Committee as well as receiving a significant number of technical papers.
